Cathy, the C&C sounds really interesting! And good gods woman - 12 lbs in a week?! *gapes* Wow. I'm impressed, and also somewhat frightened. Heh.

And Lene, there are so many different opinions about drum carders - it makes my head swim. I've consistently heard excellent things about the Petite though, and it's a fairly good price, so I went with it. I found one used for a bit less than what they are going for new, and will hopefully have it in a couple of weeks.

Thank you both for commenting! I always get a little thrill when I see comments here. :D

I have been contemplating on buying a drum carder too but have not decided if I really need one... On the other hand it would take the spinning into new dimensions.

Will be very interesting to read what you will get in the end... This post where you were condisering these different drum carders was very informative to me - being a novice. Thank you!

Oh, and those 12 lbs were carded on the C&C. I don't think I've carded a lb of fleece yet on the Petite - I bought it 8/05.

I used to have a Clemes and Clemes drumcarder - I loved it but M got laid off so I sold it. When we were back on our feet I bought the Strauch Petite. Now, mind you, I don't do a lot of carding since I discovered the ease of fiber mills. I do some but it does get to my back (one spring I carded 12 lbs of fleece... in a week). The Petite works great for me - keeps me from overdoing it.
