Fatigue

Filed under: knitting — moiraeknittoo @ 8:19 PM

Good heavens, it’s been a while. Again. I’ve been freezing berries, oven drying tomatoes, and will be freezing some peaches this weekend. Because I want to have a little bit of summer in the freezer before it ends.

PNW winters are cruel, y’all.

I’m also completely fatigued from work craziness (we’re at an all time high of 11 projects with two more to be added next week), and trying to train two guys who don’t want to know anything about my job. Given that my boss has insisted that I cross train them, this presents some difficulty. Very painful for us all.

I’m trying to avoid any more retail therapy. I’m in the mindset where I’d actually go hunt down one of the Starmore books and pay for it out of pocket, which would be a disaster. Time to go off and actually knit something to keep my hands busy and my bank account in one piece.

Summer?

Filed under: knitting — moiraeknittoo @ 1:37 PM

I feel like I missed out on most of the summer here in the PNW. I haven’t really been anywhere, except over to a few friends houses for dinner. I continue to underestimate just how much a move takes out of me. I can’t unpack yet, because most of what I own really should live on bookshelves in the living room, but I haven’t yet recovered financially from moving yet to get those shelves. And so I live in a cardboard forest of boxes.

I don’t even know where 85% of my yarn stash is. This makes it difficult to pull out stuff already earmarked for projects, but that’s ok, because they’re likely packed with their patterns, and…well. You see the difficulty.

I continue to work on a sock when I have a moment here and there, but it’s slow going. I don’t even know where my darn measuring tape is, so I’m not quite sure where I start to turn the heel. Sadly, I am not to the heel yet, so this isn’t a huge concern right now. But it’s there.

Items canned this year = a big fat zero. The canning supplies are, wait for it…packed! Looks like it’ll be frozen berries and peaches for me this winter. *sigh*

Tonight I shall drown my sorrows in half a small, fragrant, perfect French melon of unknown name and maybe some kind of crusty bread with goat cheese, and a bottle glass of chilled wine.

*broods* How are you all doing?
