I’d do WIP Wednesday, but even though I’m on the second of the two socks, there’s not much beyond the cuff and, well, I’m too damn lazy to pull out either my phone or the camera.
And.
Seriously US Supreme Court?! It’s totally OK to strip search a 13 year old girl? Without first calling her parents to inform them of the situation? And on the word of another student who has gotten caught with drugs before?
The thought of these…people…being in charge of our highest court makes my stomach turn. The fact that they found something to laugh about in any part of the situation makes my blood pressure rise to dangerous levels.
Monday has never, and probably will never be my favorite day of the week. I have been fighting a cold for like, oh, two weeks and am just so tired and achy today. Everyone at work keeps passing this plague back and forth to each other, and today’s casuality is the Director of the group. Meh.
My annoying officemate (from here on out referred to as VBI, for she is Very Busy and Important) talked for two damn hours straight about her adventures in house buying this weekend. I so totally don’t care. Meh.
VBI also wants to hook me up with someone who is a) looking for a wife, b) the mother of his future children and c) a great cook and d) a nice girl. I’m …pretty much 0/4 there with his qualifications, and my comments about womb renting and the Zero Population Growth Movement hopefully put paid to any matchmaking plans. I’m not and hopefully will not actually spawn my own children, and am perfectly content to dote on nieces and nephews. “Oh, but when you meet the right man, you’ll totally feel differently!” Bitch, please. *snorts* VBI annoys me. Meh.
Yesterday or today is Brother-Out-Law’s birthday, so we’re doing pulled pork BBQ somewhere in greater Seattle for dinner. My sister is vegan, and the only meat allowed in the house is the occasional special event piece of salmon. This should be interesting, but really, I just want to go home, curl up and go to bed. Clutching a skein of my new Sundara Silky Merino, naturally.
So you can see why today is very much a Monday Meh sort of day.
I’ve belonged to Sundara’s Seasons yarn club for a while, and today I got the final shipment for this incarnation. She’s made changes to the structure in an effort to allow her more creativity when it comes to dyeing, so while many folks are mourning the loss, I feel very lucky to have been able to participate for as long as I did. She has some amazing product, and this shipment was no exception.
These are in her Aran Silky Merino yarn base, and I will probably happily spend some time puttering around figuring out what to make with these. Something special, certainly, but simple. Hat and cowl sets seem perhaps like a bit of a waste, but the yarn is so gorgeous it should be something that people would wear often. Suggestions would be most appreciated, though ones that consist of “send it to me!” will result in much giggling and “AHAHAAHA, no.” Clicky to embiggen below.
I gotta say, I haven’t made much progress on the socks as I’ve been fighting off a low level something for about forever. My energy levels are lower than they’ve been in a long time, and for some reason I never get around to kntting on the socks.
But! I did do a little something when over at my sister’s last Sunday.
Clicky to embiggen, as always.
Not much else going on. Doing notes for two days in a big ass meeting, and my hands are killing me. I hope everyone is having a marvelous week thus far. :D
Protect people from “adult content” my ass. Lit porn is totally still available. Books about Playboy centerfolds are still totally available. If it’s het, it’s there and in your face.
Doing the search on “homosexuality” brings up absolutely horrifying results.
I just signed up as an amazon partner, but I gotta tell you, right now? Not so happy. “Glitch” my ass. Do they think we’re stupid?
I buy a metric f-ton of crap from amazon every month, but am definitely going to have to rethink whether or not I’d support a business, “local” or not, who might willingly perform such an appalling act of anal-cranial inversion.
I hope to go to Trader Joes later, because I’m really pretty much out of edible food. And I don’t really do all my shopping there, but it’ll be enough to get me through for a couple of days. I hope. And there’s always nummies at TJs!
Also, found via a friend: Everybody DANCE! *happydances!*
It is Wednesday, right? With this mind numbingly boring job, I can’t be sure. I’m really tempted to actually work on my WIP at my desk, since officemate insists on keeping the door shut and the blinds closed. She’s not here, but everyone is used to that mode of action so I could probably do it.
Alas, I shall fart around on the intarwebs instead.
Anyway, back to the actual content, I have a crappy cell phone pic of a real live WIP!
Socks from Ann Budd’s book, at 8spi. I should probably add more info to my project page on ravelry. Maybe later. For now, I’m enjoying working with the yarn, and my favorite JKL DPNs. These needles are stainless steel, so they’re heavier than most, but they also have little to no copper or nickel on the surface, which makes my allergic-to-those-metals fingers happier too. My other needles of choice for DPN sock knitting (really, the only kind I’ve tried to date), are Inox. The teflon coating makes them a little stickier, but again, my fingers appreciate the relief from icky.
By the by, the CD you see poking out from under the ball of Seaweed Latte is called Hemi-Sync Lightfall. I really like the Hemi-Sync products, and have a number of them in a box somewhere, as well as on my computer-tower-that-is-not-plugged-in. I find the meditation and relaxation ones astonishingly effective, especially if I use them as I’m going to sleep. Sadly, I tend to drop off about halfway through, but I guess it’s a kind of endorsement for the relaxation part of the process. :D
Happy Wednesday everyone! Oh! And YAY GO RED SOX! Nice job Beckett. Pedroia? You da man. Jacoby & Lowell, keep lookin’ hot. *nods firmly*
